Jacob Goble
BANKRUPT
SEPTEMBER 12 - OCTOBER 4 2015
SARDINE is pleased to present BANKRUPT, a solo exhibition of a new series by Jacob Goble. The show opens Saturday, September 12 from 6 to 9pm and will be up through Sunday, October 4, 2015.
For BANKRUPT, Goble steals, and then runs with the icons, color, and language of the television game show “Wheel of Fortune”. Over 30 years that it’s been on air, it’s rules, prizes, and even hosts have remained the same. It’s a benign institution. A dependable place for easy chair fantasies. For Goble, it's as a template to bring up cutting analogies on making art, the art world and life as a whole. He reminds us that the saving grace among these familiar rules and traditions, is the presence of the artist’s hand and vision.
Jacob Goble lives and works in Croton on Hudson, NY. In 2007 he received his MFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. He has exhibited throughout the US including at Sardine; Queens Museum of Art; Richard Levy Gallery; Carrol and Sons; and The Dorsky Gallery. In 2008, his work was included in the 13th Pancevo Biennial in Pancevo, Serbia.
SARDINE is located on the ground floor of 286 Stanhope Street between Wyckoff and Irving Avenues in Bushwick, Brooklyn, one block from the Dekalb L train and near the Knickerbocker M. For more information, please visit sardinebk.com. Contact: Lacey Fekishazy and Jon Lutz at sardinebk@gmail.com
