SARDINE is pleased to present Skittles, a solo exhibition by Jamison Brosseau. The show opens Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 6 to 9 pm and will be up through Sunday, June 3, 2018.
Brosseau’s second solo show at SARDINE, Skittles, will be comprised of minor architectural modifications to the gallery space, and the installation of 140 plywood boxes on individual plywood shelves. The boxes are 9.25 in. x 9.75 in. x 11.5 in., they are split into 7 groups of 20 and represent the colors of the visible spectrum ROYGBIV. The work draws from ideas and imagery relating to topics, like cave painting, trophy rooms, drama masks, death masks, mausoleums, catacombs, colors representing tastes, and grocery store display.
Jamison Brosseau was born in Des Moines, Iowa and lives and works in Ridgewood, New York. He is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design. His work has been exhibited at Halsey McKay Gallery, Daily Operation, Dodge Gallery, Grizzly Grizzly, Apartment Show and Southfirst. Brosseau had a solo exhibition entitled The Sea Wolf at SARDINE in 2014 and was also represented by SARDINE at the NEWD Art Show at The 1896 Studios and Stages in 2015. The solo selection featured a series of paintings and benches in an arrangement entitled Nature Boy.
SARDINE is located on the ground floor of 286 Stanhope Street between Wyckoff and Irving Avenues in Bushwick, Brooklyn, one block from the Dekalb L train and near the Knickerbocker M.
